Don’t you hate it when your reality show favorite drops out and gets replaced by someone not nearly as likable? It’s happened on “American Idol,” and apparently, “So You Think You Can Dance” isn’t immune.
Early fan favorite, Billy Bell, had to drop out of the top 20 due to an undisclosed illness. It must be noted that one of his solos (not shown) moved judge Adam Shankman to tears. See Bell’s audition after the jump:
Brandon Dumlao stepped in for him, but he was the first male contestant kicked out this season. Nonetheless, this led to a surprising twist.
Judge Nigel Lythgoe announced that he would talk to FOX about changing the rules that ban contestants from competing on the show if they already made the top 20. This way, Dumlao could return on the program when he’s a more polished dancer, which is what the judges wanted for him in the first place.
Perhaps, Bell will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which features eliminated dancers in a segment called, “I Think You Can Dance.”
