Newlyweds: a Possible YouTube Phenomenon ‘Forever’

Some people just have to make an entrance.
Newlyweds Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson have found YouTube stardom with a video of their wedding entourage dancing to Chris Brown’s “Forever.” The video has claimed more than 1 million hits online.
New York magazine states that as a result, Brown’s song is climbing up the charts. I suppose [...]

A Playlist for Rihanna

“I’m sorry.”
Two words that can mean nothing or everything.
In Chris Brown’s case — nothing.
Brown recently released his second video apology for hitting singer Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time. New York magazine’s headline on the story sums it up: “Monster Speaks, Part Two.”
That and fake.
In an attempt of sincerity, I’ve compiled a mixtape for Rihanna or [...]

Surely You Jest: The Second City Performance Review

LOL
I caught The Second City comedic team at San Jose Rep on Sunday. Never heard of it? How about Tina Fey, Steve Carell or Mike Myers? They’re all Second City alumni so, of course, I decided to catch the show.
It certainly didn’t disappoint.
Comedians Cody Dove, Niki Lindgren, Megan Hovde Wilkins, Dana Quercioli, Mark Raterman and [...]

No Emmy Love for Katherine Heigl

The Emmy nominations are out, and only one thing has got my attention.
Katherine Heigl has been shut out of the Outstanding Supporting Actress race for her work on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
I can’t help but think her little debacle with the previous Emmy awards season is behind this. After all, while many have hated her storyline of [...]

Wanted: James McAvoy as the Hobbit

Surely you’ve heard that “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien is being made into movie.
Then, there was all that hullabaloo about who’d be the director. (Peter Jackson, the man who brought us “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, was rumored at some point. The job has since gone to “Pan’s Labyrinth” director, Guillermo del Toro.)
Now, for [...]

Ferris Bueller is NOT the Figment of Anyone’s Imagination

Say hello to my invisible friend …
A writer for the Televisualist column, which looks at what’s on TV, claims that Ferris Bueller is someone the Cameron character just made up.
POSIT: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is actually a movie about Cameron. (This much is obvious: Cameron has the dramatic arc and the character development in the [...]

Trailers to Watch If You’re Bored or Really Cool

Hi! I’m Kimberly, and I’m a trailer addict.
1. When theories clash …
Real-life couple Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany star in “Creation” as Emma and Charles Darwin respectively. The film takes us through Darwin’s life as he develops his groundbreaking theory of evolution and reconciles that with his wife’s faith in God.
From the looks of the [...]

After Hollywood ‘Blindsides’ Audiences, It Will Take Them on ‘A Long Way Down’

If my career as a journalist doesn’t take off, I’m thinking of becoming a movie producer. It’s not as hard, right?
It would be cool to make the movies I’d want to see, and I already thought of a couple of books that would be perfect for the big screen.
Apparently, I’m not the only one. Movie [...]

YouTube and Pandora Radio Go Off-Key

Don’t get me wrong – I love watching trailers – just not when I’m trying to watch a music video.
I went on YouTube to see Mat Kearney’s “Closer to Love” for the first time, and it wasn’t a bad song. It might even grow on me, sneak up on me when I have a bad day. [...]

‘Harry Potter’ Character Appears to Be All Bark but No Bite

Did anyone else go, “WTF?” when they saw pictures of Fenrir Greyback?
New photos from the upcoming ”Harry Potter” movie were released, including one of Greyback, a werewolf. One problem: He doesn’t look anything like a werewolf - more like Hellboy minus the horns.
Make-up is second to good acting, but Greyback is being played by relative unknown, Dave Legeno, so [...]
